I canceled my Chevy Silverado EV reservation back in October, and after months of back and forth, I finally got my deposit refunded. But wow, what a ridiculous process.

Dealer first claimed Chevy had the money, but my credit card statement showed they had it.
Then, they said they needed authorization, then said they were “working on it.”
Even the EV Concierge got the runaround trying to help me.
I had to get a regional manager involved, and only then did I get my check.

All of this over a $100 refundable deposit. Seriously? Anyone else have this much trouble getting their money back?

GM wasn’t the problem here, but the dealer.
For $100, they created a ton of bad will. Meanwhile, GM has been doing plenty to keep customers happy, like covering tax credits and handling the Bolt recall smoothly. If they had taken your deposit directly, you would probably have had your money back instantly.
At least you got it in the end. Just another reminder to be picky about which dealers you trust.

I just don't get why anyone would spend that much on a GM electric truck. The way they handle responsibility, always looking for a legal way out, is just bad. You'd hope they'd learn, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

That is outrageous. It seems you have been like a ball that;s being tossed around. Aside from the deposit did they try to win you back or offer additional compensation for the hassle?

it is because everyone is different and we have our own preferences. If money is not a problem then you can get whatever you want.

@Yhorm_the_Giant When did you pay your reservation? The books have been closed and that's why it took time for them to get approval for the refund to be processed this year.
