I just got my Sierra EV this weekend after trading in my Lyriq AWD. I’m loving the car so far. I’ve got a question about the power output in different drive modes.

During my test drive, I initially felt a bit underwhelmed. The Sierra’s 758 HP didn’t feel as punchy compared to the 500 HP in my Lyriq. Then the salesperson switched on Max Power mode, and wow, what a difference! That sealed the deal for me.

Now, I’m curious, do the other drive modes (like Normal) have different power outputs? It definitely felt slower than the Lyriq when in Normal mode, so I’m wondering how much the drivetrain is limited in these modes. Has GM released any info about the power levels across modes, or is it just Max Power that unlocks the full potential? Would love to hear from others who’ve explored this in their Sierra EV.

The Lyriq feels faster off the line, which is not surprising. The weight of those large vehicles just prevents them from accelerating instantly. Although they have a lot of power for pulling and towing, the weight of the car slows things down. I'm interested to see what a Silverado with just one motor will look like. It might get a little more electric vigor from that.
