I finally got around to towing with my Silverado EV, and wow, what a game-changer. I hitched up my Airstream (25-footer) using a weight distribution/sway control hitch, and the process was a breeze thanks to the trailering app. It made setup super smooth and even gave me confidence on my first EV towing trip. Here’s what I noticed:
  • I averaged about 1.4 miles per kWh while towing through the hilly areas of western Washington. Honestly, I was pretty impressed given the weight and terrain.
  • Compared to my previous gas trucks (Silverado 1500 LT and a 3500HD LTZ), the EV felt quieter and more stable, especially on descents. That instant torque also made uphill sections a lot easier.
How’s everyone else finding the towing experience? Whether it’s small utility trailers or bigger rigs, I’d love to hear about:
  • How your mileage compares.
  • Any standout features in the Silverado EV that made towing easier.
  • If you’ve noticed any challenges (range anxiety, charging with a trailer, etc.).

Naturally, 10,000 is the maximum rating. I doubt that they will ever accommodate a fifth wheel hitch. This is a unibody truck with the battery pack as a structural component of the floor, as opposed to a body-on-frame truck where the hitch bolts to the frame. To what would you fasten it? I never thought it would be accessible.
