Electric trucks are exciting, but the price is so impractical. That 80k price tag is a difficult pill to swallow. Lowering the costs would certainly make them more appealing.

It is a bit pricey but that is only a small price to pay compared to higher maintenance costs in the long run with gas-powered vehicles. Initial price of electric vehicles are a bit more expensive than the gas-powered vehicles but with electric vehicles you don't have to pay for gas or oil change that is usually what makes gas-powered vehicles more expensive further on. Aside from the Silverado, there are other electric trucks that are less expensive and might even fit your budget. Ford F-150 and 2024 Rivian R1T costs less than $60,000, want to consider these instead?

You know, that $80,000 price tag for that Chevy? It's pretty clear they're trying to push that specific trim because it's the only one that still qualifies for the EV tax credit. Remember how Ford was all about the Lariat Lightning at first? It was tough to even get a Pro or XLT. Now it seems like the XLT ER is where it's at.

I love my Lariat ER Lightning, but even that's gone up by $10,000 since I got it. It's not as much of a deal as it used to be. We really need some serious breakthroughs in battery technology if we want EVs to be a realistic option for everyone.

The focus on higher trims for tax credits feels strategic, but it does limit options. Breakthroughs in battery tech are key to broader EV adoption.
