I picked up my new Sierra EV last September from a dealership in in my state, and I have to say, I’m loving it so far. The most recent drive my family had only required one 20-minute charge stop, and the truck handled it like a champ. But I’ve noticed a few issues and quirks, so I wanted to share my experience and get some input.
First, I lost the trim piece above the driver’s side windshield pretty early on. It’s frustrating, but I’ve scheduled an appointment with the dealer to get it checked out. Another issue is with the head-up display (HUD), it seems misaligned, almost like it’s focusing a few inches to the right of my normal line of sight. There’s also a faint ghosting effect, which I hope the dealership can fix.
The e-trunk has been a bit temperamental. When I use the key to close it, nothing happens. When it opens, it stops about three-quarters of the way up and needs a push to fully open. I’m wondering if there’s a setting for this that I’ve missed.
Super Cruise also gave me a scare. It attempted to change lanes while a car was parallel to me, even with the blind spot indicator lit. Has anyone else had this happen? It’s a bit unsettling.
Another minor annoyance is with the infotainment system. I like using the trip widget to monitor my current trip, but every time I restart the truck, it defaults to showing “Trip 1&2” instead, even though the title still says “Current Trip.” Not a big deal, but I’m hoping over-the-air updates might fix it.
I also remember seeing a slider for charging kW settings (something like 6–19kW) when I first got in the truck, but now I can’t seem to find it. Does anyone know where this might be buried in the settings?
Overall, I’ve already put 2,000 miles on the truck, and it drives beautifully. Despite the hiccups, I’m really happy with it and excited to see how GMC improves things with future updates. If anyone has advice on the e-trunk, HUD, or charging settings, I’d love to hear it!
