I decided to put down $5,000 on a Sierra EV after the dealer confirmed they had an allocation. However, I am concerned about the delivery timeline. I am the sixth person on the list, and it is unclear when my truck will arrive.

I'm concerned that GM will prioritize 2025 model production, limiting the availability of 2024 models. It's uncertain whether I'll get a truck this year or have to wait until the next model year.

I'm looking for advice on whether I should stick with this strategy or actively seek a different vehicle.

I think it depends on the other buyers. If they will get theirs faster, you will get it, too. If someone drops him, then expect to get it faster than expected. At least, you are on the list. Have patience!

I had the chance to secure one of the first 8WTs at my dealership, but just like you, I had to drop a nonrefundable $5K just to hold my spot. The payment wasn’t coming back, so it was a bit of a gamble, but I decided to roll the dice.

If you're set on the Sierra EV, staying on the list could pay off. However, exploring other options might give you more certainty or flexibility.
