Hello everyone!
I tried the MyChevy app/OnStar trial and found it pretty low for the price I pay monthly.
Remote start, lights, panic button, and tire pressure checks seem limited in usefulness.
I also expected features like charging history, trip efficiency, climate control adjustments, or scheduled remote start, but they are missing.
Also, why pay for a data plan when my phone already has unlimited data?
For those who didn’t subscribe after the trial, what (if anything) still works without a paid plan?
Does WiFi connectivity enable any features?
Thank you! And hope I won't disturb you with my frustrations.

Yeah, Chevy’s app features feel pretty limited for what they charge. Some automakers give more without requiring a subscription, but here, things like remote start and climate control scheduling disappear once the trial ends. Without a paid plan, you’ll still get basic vehicle health monitoring, but forget about detailed trip logs or charging stats. Also, the in-car WiFi doesn’t unlock extra features, it’s just for streaming and connectivity.

Looks like Ford could have the advantage here. If GM’s only tossing in remote start, I’d honestly just stick to carrying the key instead.
