I’m running into an issue with my radar detector (Valentine 1, second generation) in my Silverado EV RST. It keeps giving me false alarms in the Ka band, specifically at 33.750 GHz. The signal always seems to come from the front of the truck.

Some observations:

The detector doesn’t alert in the upper windshield corners but does pick up the signal below the dashboard.
It happens both when the truck is powered on and off.
Haven’t tested it with the truck completely powered down after sitting for a while, but I’m planning to try using an auxiliary battery to power the detector and eliminate external interference.

I’ve heard similar false alarm issues were reported with the Cadillac Lyriq, so I’m wondering if it’s something in the ADAS or radar systems. My Lucid, which has a similarly advanced ADAS setup, doesn’t give any Ka false alarms.

Anyone else encountered this? Any thoughts on what might be causing it or how to fix it?

The front radar is 77GHz and a harmonic could be interfering with your radar detector. GM uses 77GHz radar so it's likely picking up those sensors. Check if you can disable that band on your detector. The radar stays active when the car is on even after you exit. The Lucid has a front radar but corner sensors depend on its features. Lidar won’t affect your detector.

Try testing in an open area, away from obstacles, to see if the issue persists
