Hey, has anyone else been getting the alert from SuperCruise as your eyes weren't on the road, even though you are paying attention?

On a recent trip I noticed it happened when the sun was shining directly on the sensor that monitors your eyes on the steering column.

I think that could be blocking the sensor from detecting your eyes.

At first, I thought it was a reflection off my glasses, but thinking on the situation, I thought this was more plausible to happen.

The sun coming in through the roof might be causing the issue, especially during certain times of the day.

What do you think?

That’s concerning, SuperCruise is supposed to be hands-free, but if it’s getting false readings because of direct sunlight, that’s something Chevy should fix ASAP. I’d report it to them and see if they plan on a software patch or sensor recalibration.

If the sun's just right, the IR camera's useless.

That sounds really frustrating! Might be worth bringing it up to Chevy, they might be able to adjust the sensor’s sensitivity for better performance in those conditions.

The reflections from glasses are often blamed for this flaw but direct sunlight could definitely create a blind spot. The roof glass could be amplifying the sunlight at certain times of day. I am curious if there is a solution like a small shield for the sensor.
